Dancer was foaled in 1982 and I got him in 1985. He had been picked up by the Humane Society
4 times because of abuse and starvation. He had also been attacked by a pit bull before I rescued him. The first
time I seen him he was a starving 2 year old and had 3 people riding him at the same time. He is a very forgiving pony
and has been one of the most sensible and good minded ponies I have owned. He was a stallion until he was in his 20's
because he never acted like one and would not even breed the mares in the pasture. He ran with my mares for years
and I never worried about babies and I could take him anywhere and he never acted any different than a gelding.
I decided my grandkids needed a good pony, one who I had rode for 20 years, so he was as foolproof as any
pony could be. We gelded him and the grandkids took him to junior Rodeos and local shows.
Dancer had been set in the poles and barrels patterns and would also do walk-trot and western pleasure classes
and never be excited from running speed events.
This is a rare find to have one pony who could do both speed and pleasure events and do them both well.
He could also jump in his younger days.
Dancer went from my grandkids to a good friends granddaughter. She told me that she did not know how
many trophies and ribbons Dancer and her had won. She called him Dancer Prancer Pony.
Well, Dancer is retired now and back home with me. He has nothing to do now but come up to the barn
and eat twice a day.
January 5, 2008, Dancer was put to rest because of kidney failure
